Cyber, AI and Technology

Background

What would we do if the internet or cell service wasn't there tomorrow. or if our rights to the internet on our digital ID were taken away because we didn't take a required drug. Strange to think about these things, but they seem like possibilities in the world we seem to be entering.
The monitoring of our actions through shared ad-tech data, and PC and phone platforms and 5/6G communications, microsoft windows, google in all its forms from browsers, to app stores, to search engines to ad-tech data collection, to google home, alexia, siri and gemini, and apple in all its similar form, is astonishing. Ask an AI tool about something personal you've never discussed with it before, or something you discussed at a party without anything written, and the amount of detail it knows is astonishing. Or call your bank and have it say your voice was recognized as part of the validation. We are being recorded at all levels. Repeated biometrics at airports and other places gives multiple views to make us more recognizable in data and in photos on social media and in pulling together relationships among global data. Use of AI pulls that together at even a higher level, giving context to the data received from other sources, and understanding our thought processes, and what we are thinking about, asking about, conclusions we are forming. How do we mitigate this and is it worth setting up parallel systems

The answer is theoretically Yes, but the "How" is the difficult part and it depends how deep you want to go and how diciplined you think you can be to make any impact.

A very detailed base layer is already there, so it depends what you want to achieve.  Here is what I think is realistic.

  1.  Live your life normally - perhaps with 1 level of separation for discussions you prefer to be private. Then get prepared should you every have repeated problems with systema and communication channels.

  2. Get a clean set of systems (phone laptop, hotspot simchip, other, email account) and put them on a shelf in case one day something you say or do gets your priveledges limited or your current set has problems, and you will be able to switch on with a new ID at a public wifi and have some sort of capability.

  3. Get at least one PC off Microsoft windows, google and apple, and onto something open source like Linux.  Be aware that for normal operation you need a layer on top of the base linux so be careful you choose one that is neutral

  4. A de-googled phone is a plus - Pixels (a few yers old) are some that work for this, but easier to buy from someone who does it.

  5. Get a portable Ham Radio and a few UHF and VHF radios. maybe a hand held CB. Not all Ham radios do UHF and VHF, and thats fine - great if they work together but not essential.  Really different use cases. You dont need licenses to have them available in an emergency or to listen in if things go dark. You do need a license to talk in regular times and know which channels not to use or you may get a knock at the door and a big fine with several zeros on the end of it.

  6. Split your browsers and your email addresses between normal communications and any conversations you may be having about world events that may be construed as non-main stream. Keep google apps on a google browser and others on others.  Use firefox privacy and startpage vs google or microsoft or apple versions.  Not a failsafe but provides perhaps some limited separation.  Maybe get a company email. Same for phones. an unused $15/month sim that you can bump up to a full plan online at any time may be a useful thing.  Even better if it is in your company name.

  7. Think about your identity when you communicate.  Know that everything is recorded.  Identity management.  Think about whether what you say may increase your visibility or put you on a list.  Very hard to do effectively without discipline as so much cross matching exists for ad-tech ans other. If you exit the target zones you may care less than if you are deciding to stay in Western Europe, US or Canada. The practical factor is that the channels being listened to are so much more convenient than the private ones that in order to keep your life moving you have to accept that most of it will be recorded. Understand that. Trying to swim upstream is much harder than paddling slowly with the current to the shore.

  8. Why cell service fails in one country when a grid down event occurs in another (e.g. US). 1. All networks reference a combination of local and international nodes, partly due to the fiber optic cable structure globally and how that is rented out, and partly software. As a system references a dead node or a software table it confuses the system. 2 cell towers are programmed to shut down if they cant GPS and time syncronize. This is partly a security feature, but if GPS were to go down (has happened before) or the towers cant time synchronize, they will automatically shut down. No cell service.

Case Study

The Problem

  • Linux PC and de-googled phone

  • Couple of unused email addresses, a spare phone and laptop or tablet

  • Common sense identy management

  • Think about 2FA impact if your phone numer became non-operational, use email for some and mix it up between 2 or 3.

  • Get a few handheld and a HAM radio and figure out basic usage, and a check-in plan with friends, in case cell service and internet ever goes down.

Our Solutions

Just contingency plans to provide for possible adverse future scenarios, and to get at lease one system free from microsoft, apple and google
